Young artist Pham Cong Xeen (Pham Xeen), born in 1994, graduated with a bachelor's degree in silk painting from the Ho Chi Minh University of Fine Arts. He currently lives and works in Ho Chi Minh City. His practice revolves around familiar scenes, such as quiet cafés and everyday spaces absent of human presence. For Xeen, creating is a way to release emotion and embrace more empathetic perspectives. His recent works with wet-on-wet oil technique mostly draw the inspiration evoked in him when he takes care of his father who suffered a stroke and faced impaired vision. From there, he suggests simple and intimate aspects of life through the path of painting. In this journey, he seeks to express his inner self after many questions, while constantly experimenting to renew himself.
