Truong Van Ngoc

Truong Van Ngoc received his Master's degree from University of Industrial Fine Arts. He is an artist committed to a deeply introspective painterly language, expressed primarily through watercolour and silk. Moving fluidly between realism and abstraction, his practice is united by a consistent engagement with the sensibility of nature and the subtle shifts of the inner mind.

On one hand, his realist works adopt a restrained approach, observing the natural world through flowers, birds, foliage, clouds, water, and the changing qualities of light in everyday life. On the other hand, his abstract paintings extend this inquiry into non-narrative structures, where colour, light, and the rhythm of the painted surface become vehicles for expressing the invisible movements of space and time. His explorations in this direction reveal the influence of Chinese modern masters such as Zao Wou-Ki (1920 - 2013) and Chu Teh-Chun (1920 - 2014), whose paintings evoke abstraction without entirely relinquishing the presence of the image.

Across both bodies of work, Truong Van Ngoc's practice reflects a sustained engagement with Eastern aesthetic philosophy, articulated through a visual language founded upon the balance between technical precision and quiet restraint. He deliberately preserves areas of stillness within the composition, creating an expansive pictorial space that invites viewers into a state of contemplation and a dialogue with themselves. This synthesis has shaped a contemplative artistic practice, in which nature becomes a space where emotions settle, resonate, and quietly unfold.
